Departing from chilly Amsterdam we flew with China Airlines for around 13 hour towards the hot Bangkok. Flying (or looking outside to the wonderful cloud formations) is one of my favorite things in life (not including all the emissions though). Can’t wait on the day we humans are able to fly by ourselves!
When I flew to the States in 2013 I got a vegetarian dish (was a flexitarian back then) which was in my eyes looking tastier than the other food being served. So now I was soon to find out if flight companies can also bring it to the next level.
The food that landed on my tray was indeed animal friendly and not even that bad! The first time I had a tasty pasta with vegetables, a small couscous salad and some fruits. Even a small bread with vegan butter. Although the food had the flight-meal spongy texture the taste was surprisingly ok. The second meal (brunch-ish) I got a simple pasta with mushrooms, not too bad. I do wonder though, why a China Airlines, flying to Asia, give out so much Italian food.
While traveling around I heard a lot of horror stories about vegans flying for 15 hours or more and surviving only on their brought trail mix. Of course I was prepared for the worst starvation but I was served pretty tasty and fulfilling. So overall my first vegan flight went fine!
Up to my other flights within our trip!
